a recipe for a relaxing day

THE WORLD IS MINE; BLUE HILL, STILL SILVER LAKE,
BROAD FIELD, BRIGHT FLOWER, AND THE LONG WHITE ROAD
A GATELESS GARDEN, AND AN OPEN PATH:
MY FEET TO FOLLOW, AND MY HEART TO HOLD
 EDNA ST. VINCENT MILLAY

mix together:

+  now is the time: not then, not there, not when. we rush to see what tomorrow holds when we should be eager to anticipate now.  be present.

+ open your Bible and read 3 pages.  learn, meditate, soak and breathe in the words.

+ take a bubble bath and listen to music

+ do the following exercise routine:  25 jumping jacks, 15 crunches, 10 push-ups, 20 burpees. repeat if necessary. perhaps exercise is not relaxing at the time but exercise reduces stress!
+ accomplish 5 things on your to-do list and make a don't-do list as well.
+ splash paint on paper (abstract art will do!), write for 10 minutes or make something with your hands.
+ do what you love doing most.
+ try this relaxation breathing technique: breathe in for 4 seconds, hold for 7, breathe out for 8 ...repeat.
+ make an omelette, pancakes or your favourite food (then invite someone over for dinner!)
after many days of hot very weather, rain is drizzling down my window and our home is humid and cosy - relaxation at its finest. make the most of today; wishing you all a relaxing weekend!
what do you do to relax?

  2. oh, this is absolutely lovely, dearie. your photos are magical; so simple, and clean and fresh... like a breath of fresh air. and your words just as much so. i am definitely bookmarking this.

on that note, i haven't been in the "blogging" world as much as i would like to be lately {that's going to change. ;)} but i enjoy every moment spent on your lovely corner of the internet. your passion for life and eye for beauty is such an inspiration to me. i've missed your blog in my absence, and (as always) i am looking forward to your next posts. ;)

  8. absolutely loving this post. what I do to relax is put on some relaxing music (I made several playlists for those times because I'm often stressed out haha) and I do yoga on my mat. Then I get some green or earl grey tea!

    SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE ALICE.

  10. This does sound amazingly relaxing. I always love your life-advice type lists and posts... I'm already trying out the deep-breathing thing, which *is* really relaxing. (: And I agree with you on the exercise reducing stress thing, that definitely works for me. Running also always helps me focus.

    1. So happy to hear you're already trying the breathing technique! It really does make a difference, doesn't it? Slows down your heart rate, ultimately helping you to relax. I recommend doing it as you go to bed -- it has put me to sleep countless times. :) And running is definitely another great think to add to the relaxation list. Thank you so much for commenting! xxx

  16. Dearest Acacia,

Thank you so much for this. It is amazing. All of those are truly great ideas. I especially love the idea of a don't-do list. I've never even thought of that before, but that is absolutely genius! Also, just soaking in the bible. Too often for me, it's just a chore and I don't spend enough time meditating in what I'm reading.

Also, your photography has gotten so amazingly beautiful! That first picture is just soaked with relaxation. It's stunning.

    Love,
    Rebekah
P.S. I'm am definitely trying this list soon!
