tears

listen

in spare moments, poetry

feathered aching
honey, milk and
a life perfumed with salt water
dipping into cold,
the waves kiss the shore
 the taste of raspberries
sunsets and sunrises
laughter
stories
a campfire
long, stretched nights
emotion that softly tears

fully alive

“I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”
― F. Scott FitzgeraldThe Great Gatsby

Craving simplicity

1. the way the light falls into my bedroom
2. at the kitchen sink
3. portrait of a lemon
4. yellow & film
5. dancing forever - from a photo session today
6. drips of colour

And yet again, I hit the break in the middle of the highway - seat belt locking fast and firm and my car, my life, my mind jolting to a stop.  I pull open my laptop screen and browse, browse, browse - in a constant flux of procrastination, my eyes search for more and yet all I want is less, to simplify, to declutter, to empty.  But I crave more?  I crave the ability to take better photos?  I crave collaborations?  I crave success.  When, oh when, I ask myself will I learn that the journey is the destination - that, except heaven, there is no glimmering, glistening, perfect life.   To stop comparing and start doing -- that is the ultimate destination.  To live simply and wholly and breathe today's air as if it were our last breath on earth.

Forever craving simplicity, normalcy and ease and yet?  I have it here.  Right now.  I own my life (and you own yours) and the choice is ours.  Let go.  Release.  Push away the blogs, books and social media accounts that tell you 'less is more' because without them is less.  Seek less, seek Him.

Have you been craving simplicity and ease amidst a storm?

CHOOSE SIMPLICITY

For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then the chances are that you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness.
  Andy Rooney

To find happiness in quiet, unexpected moments or objects - flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, a good breakfast.  Living simply.  Living wholly.  Choosing simplicity.

This week I hope you jump into Monday with a refreshed soul, finding happiness in life's simplest movements and moments.

Actually, we are supporting 'local farmers'.  Our friends are away and we've been asked to collect their chicken's eggs each day.   The best part? We get the fresh eggs!

The bread comes out of the oven and fills the room with a happy golden scent; I rip a bit off and spread a thick slice of butter across it. Homemade is so much better than bought.

My new spring design is up thanks to Marieanne for doing the header. Naturally, I wanted to put up the more spring-filled one. But both are gorgeous... which one do you like better?

The sun is pouring in through the window panes casting warm, dark shadows on the floor.  My bedroom wall is wall is dappled with sunlight - it seems to beckon spring.  56 degrees Fahrenheit, crocuses peeping up and summer clothes appearing is a sure sign that spring is around the corner.

This is such an exciting time of year; the weather makes you happy about nearly everything, no?

p.s. I have an important/big/nerve-racking piano exam on the 13th of March... I would appreciate your prayers!

unique between causal

I scrambled out of bed, sleepy-eyed and disarrayed, and pulled open the blinds. I saw the sun rising between bundles of houses and trees; the sun - golden, magenta, warm and creamy. It slowly slipped it's way into the sky. I saw beauty between mundane, unique in the midst of causal.

You see, lately I've found it hard to see beauty through the mundane; and how I long for adventure. To be in Paris, the Louvre, a coffee shop in Italy, splashing in the shores of New Zealand, climbing the mountains of Scotland or participating in the bustle of London or NYC... my mind wanders, clicks -- yes, I also strive to be a hunter of beauty.  I strive not to gain that beauty with money and traveling expeditions, but through God's creation, everyday happenings, my own talents, inspiring pictures and words.

“I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”
― Laura Ingalls Wilder
